Rare Vintage Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus book "When the CIRCUS came to town The Circus Story" by Dean M. Aungst 1969, 3rd Printing 1976

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Combined Circus received its final standing ovation on Sunday night, May 17, 2017, as it performed its last show. The final performance ended a 146-year run for the Circus, which billed itself as "The Greatest Show on Earth." If you are a circus lover with fond childhood circus memories, these very rare, softcover books are a must for your library!

These softcover books are 1976 3rd editions. It was first published in 1969 by Applied Arts Publishers in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. On its cover, "The Circus Story" tells us it is a "Pictorial Array" of wonderful vintage photos and graphics from the turn of the century. Each of its 40 pages is packed with information and grand images.

These two editions were found in a Kinzua souvenir store located by the Kinzua Dam Reservoir in Warren County, Pennsylvania. Sadly, the store was having a going-out-of-business sale. These two softcover books had been on the same shelf since the 1970's.

Condition: The bright yellow covers are in very good condition with slightly weathered right corners. It appears there was a price tag on the corners; the price tags are no longer there. Picture five shows some wear to the top edge of the covers and the right corners. It is likely that, over the years, the tops of the covers were dusted many times causing the barely noticeable waving of the top edges. There is no damage or writing on the pages of either book. Beyond the referenced imperfections, the covers and pictures are suitable for framing. The books are clean and odor-free.
